QUEER HISTORY WALK
FR 8.12., 15.00-17.00
Queer History between Karlsplatz and Naschmarkt
Route: Stadtkino to Schikaneder Cinema
Around Karlsplatz and Naschmarkt there was and is a lively queer life. The subcultural meeting places offered opportunities to make contact with like-minded people and were, albeit only to a limited extent, a safe place for parties and boisterous activities. At the same time, criminal prosecution and the resulting social ostracism were a constant companion. Self-determined queer life was difficult under these conditions, yet some managed to create safe spaces. This queer walk will tell you about these places.
